Highway encounter leads Glen Burnie man to $500K lottery win

by Local News Report

GLEN BURNIE, MD. — A rude driver’s actions on the highway turned into an unexpected windfall for a Glen Burnie man, who used the offending driver’s license plate digits to win $500,000 in the Maryland Lottery’s Pick 5 game.

The Anne Arundel County resident, a part-time Pick 5 player, was inspired to play the plate number after being cut off by another vehicle while driving into Maryland in late December. He stopped at Doc’s F&B Liquors on 7067 B&A Boulevard in Glen Burnie and purchased 10 identical tickets, each worth $50,000.

The technician realized his incredible luck the next morning when he scanned his tickets using the Maryland Lottery app. He plans to use part of his winnings to pay off bills and invest the remainder.

Doc’s F&B Liquors also benefitted, receiving a $5,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the 10 winning tickets.
