On December 19, 2024, around 9:45 p.m., the Baltimore County Police Department’s Aviation Unit reported multiple laser strikes while flying eastbound along Eastern Avenue toward Martin State Airport.

Using the helicopter’s onboard imaging system, officers pinpointed the source of the laser and directed patrol units to the 800 block of Rosedale Avenue.

There, officers arrested Anthony R. Wolff and charged him with recklessly engaging in conduct that posed a substantial risk of death or serious injury to officers.

The incident comes amid a reported increase in laser strikes, with the Federal Aviation Administration recording 13,304 such cases in 2023.
