MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Authorities in Manchester Township have issued a warning about a potentially rabid fox sighted in several residential areas, with multiple minor injuries reported.
According to Manchester Police, the animal was last seen on January 20 in the neighborhoods surrounding Cardinal Drive, Swallow Street, Blue Jay Street, and Wilbur Avenue. Officials said that individuals who were injured by the fox are receiving medical treatment, and the Health Department is closely monitoring their conditions.
Local wildlife officials, Animal Control, and federal agencies are working alongside the police to locate the animal and assess the situation. Residents are being urged to remain cautious and report any sightings of foxes exhibiting aggressive or abnormal behavior.
“If you encounter a fox acting unusually, do not approach it,” police advised. Instead, residents should call the Manchester Police Department immediately at 732-657-6111.
The public is reminded to stay vigilant and take precautions to avoid any potential contact with the animal until it is captured.
