Two arrested in Cape May County drug investigation

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE, N.J. — A man and woman from North Cape May were arrested Wednesday following a narcotics investigation that led to the seizure of drugs, cash, and paraphernalia, authorities said.

Kevin Powell, 49, and Elizabeth Singh, 47, were taken into custody after the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Task Force executed search warrants on their residence, vehicles, and persons. The operation was conducted in coordination with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the Lower Township Police Department, and the Cape May County Regional SWAT Team.

Investigators seized less than half an ounce of crack cocaine, prescription pills, drug distribution paraphernalia, and approximately $3,754 in U.S. currency, officials said.

Powell faces multiple charges, including distribution of controlled dangerous substances (CDS), possession of CDS, conspiracy, and resisting arrest. He was processed and lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility. Singh was charged with distribution and possession of CDS, as well as possession with intent to distribute drug paraphernalia. She was released on a summons pending court proceedings.

Authorities stated that individuals convicted of third-degree crimes face prison sentences of three to five years.
