Facing Impeachment, New Jersey AG files another lawsuit against Trump administration

TRENTON, N.J. — New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has joined a coalition of 22 attorneys general in filing a second motion to enforce a court order against the Trump administration, alleging continued obstruction of federal funding.

The lawsuit challenges what Platkin and other officials describe as an “illegal and destructive freeze” on Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) grants. The funding, they argue, is critical for emergency preparedness, cybersecurity, wildfire response, and flood mitigation.

Despite a temporary restraining order issued on January 31 and a court order on February 8 requiring the release of funds, the coalition claims the administration continues to withhold money. The latest motion, filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Rhode Island, seeks further judicial enforcement.

Platkin, who is facing impeachment proceedings in the New Jersey legislature, has previously filed multiple lawsuits against the Trump administration, many of which have been unsuccessful.
