Man fatally shot in Southeast D.C. on Chaplin Street

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A deadly shooting in Southeast early Sunday morning has left a Maryland man dead, prompting an ongoing homicide investigation.

At approximately 3:28 a.m. on March 16, Sixth District officers responded to a report of gunfire in the 1100 block of Chaplin Street SE. Upon arrival, they found an adult male unconscious and suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound.

Despite life-saving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities identified him as 42-year-old Marcus Kelly of Upper Marlboro, MD.

The case remains under investigation, and police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
