BALTIMORE, Md. — Two Baltimore teens have been charged with first-degree murder in the 2024 shooting death of 55-year-old Melvin White, whose body was initially believed to be part of a suspected overdose call in the city’s Western District.
Autopsy reveals deadly gunshot wound
White was found unresponsive on the front porch of a residence in the 3000 block of Edmondson Avenue on the morning of February 3, 2024. He was declared dead at the scene, and his body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination.
An autopsy performed the next day revealed White had suffered a fatal gunshot wound, shifting the case from a medical emergency to a homicide investigation.
Suspects arrested more than a year later
After months of investigation, detectives identified Noah Diggs, 18, and a 17-year-old female — both of Baltimore — as the individuals responsible for White’s death. On April 3, 2025, Warrant Apprehension Detectives arrested the juvenile suspect and charged her with first-degree murder. She was transported to Central Booking and is currently being held without bail.
Diggs, who was already incarcerated on unrelated charges, was officially charged with first-degree murder in connection to the same case. He is also being held without bail.
