Prince William County, VA — A 29-year-old Woodbridge woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing a crash scene and abandoning her 10-year-old daughter in the vehicle, authorities said Wednesday.

The Prince William County Police Department identified the suspect as Jazmine Nichole Conward. She has been charged with felony child neglect, driving under the influence, unreasonable refusal, and hit and run.

The incident occurred on April 26 at around 12:06 a.m. in the 14700 block of Ashdale Avenue. Officers arrived to find a wrecked vehicle with a 10-year-old girl and an adult male still inside.

  • Police found her 10-year-old daughter and a man inside the vehicle
  • Conward arrested at her home shortly after the crash

Crash scene spanned two front yards before car stopped

According to investigators, Conward veered off the roadway, struck a parked vehicle, and continued across two residential front yards before the car came to a stop. She then fled the scene on foot, leaving her child and the man behind.

Police say she ran back to her nearby residence, where officers located and arrested her without further incident.

Felony child neglect among multiple charges filed

In addition to DUI and fleeing the scene of a crash, Conward now faces a felony charge for child neglect, a serious offense in Virginia. Authorities did not report any injuries to the child or the adult male passenger.

The case remains under investigation.
