A hit-and-run crash involving a pickup truck and a sedan in Linden Monday night left three people hospitalized and police searching for the driver who fled the scene, authorities said.
At approximately 7:55 p.m., officers responded to reports of a serious motor vehicle collision on the 1100 block of E. St. George Avenue. According to preliminary findings, a Ford pickup truck heading westbound attempted a left turn onto Bishop Evans Way and struck an eastbound Toyota Camry. The impact forced the Toyota off the roadway, where it collided with a utility pole before stopping.
The driver of the Toyota, a 32-year-old man from Roselle, initially declined medical attention but was later treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Trinitas Regional Medical Center. Two passengers, an 18-year-old woman from Roselle and a 38-year-old woman from Hillside, sustained serious injuries and were transported to Newark University Hospital. Both are reported to be in stable condition.
Police said the driver of the pickup truck fled the scene on foot after abandoning the vehicle. The truck was later found parked on Charles Street, but no arrests have been made.
