Man arrested in fatal H Street shooting that killed 23-year-old in February

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A 42-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the February shooting death of Jaydon Parson, who was fatally shot on H Street in Northeast, D.C., police said Wednesday.

The deadly shooting occurred on Tuesday, February 18, at approximately 9:42 p.m. in the 700 block of H Street NE. First District officers arrived to find Parson, 23, unconscious and not breathing, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Despite efforts by DC Fire and EMS, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Following a months-long investigation, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Dione Dorn of Northwest, D.C., on Wednesday, May 7, pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant. He has been charged with First Degree Murder while Armed (Premeditated).

Officials have not released details about a possible motive or whether the victim and suspect knew each other prior to the shooting.

The arrest marks a major development in the case, which has remained open since February.

Suspect charged in February H Street homicide

Investigators spent weeks working to identify and locate the suspect in the fatal shooting, which occurred in a busy commercial corridor known for restaurants and nightlife. Surveillance footage, witness statements, and forensic evidence reportedly contributed to the arrest warrant.

Dorn is currently in custody pending further legal proceedings. It is unclear whether additional individuals were involved or if more arrests are expected.
