BALTIMORE, MD — A 17-year-old girl has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted unarmed robbery and assault that took place late Thursday night in the city’s Southern District, police confirmed.
The incident occurred around 11:48 p.m. on May 8. According to investigators, the teenage suspect approached a 28-year-old woman as she was exiting her vehicle and attempted to rob her. The suspect then assaulted the victim during the encounter.
Southern District patrol officers responded to the scene and later identified and apprehended the juvenile suspect. She was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center and charged with second-degree assault.
Repeat juvenile offender released on electronic monitoring
The suspect, who has prior arrests for burglary and stolen auto offenses, was subsequently released under electronic monitoring. Authorities did not disclose whether any additional charges are pending or if other individuals were involved.
The victim’s condition was not disclosed, and police have not released further details about the circumstances of the attempted robbery.
The case remains under investigation by Southern District detectives.
