Elm Street grab-and-go lands 18-year-old in cuffs

WASHINGTON — A teen was arrested Monday in connection with a robbery reported last month in Northwest, where a victim had personal property forcibly taken in broad daylight.

The incident occurred Sunday, April 6, around 1:37 p.m. on the 300 block of Elm Street NW. According to police, a suspect approached the victim and snatched an item from the victim’s face before fleeing the area.

An arrest warrant was issued by DC Superior Court following an investigation. On Monday, 18-year-old Vamorin Thompson of Northwest D.C. was taken into custody and charged with Simple Assault and Theft (Second Degree).

The arrest comes more than six weeks after the robbery, which was logged under case number CCN:25049958.

Officials have not disclosed further details about the property stolen or whether the suspect and victim were known to each other. No injuries were reported in the incident.
