PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — Philadelphia Police are investigating a double shooting that left one juvenile dead and another critically injured inside a grocery store in the city’s 19th District on Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting occurred around 2:16 p.m. inside a store located on the 5400 block of Race Street. Responding officers discovered two juvenile males with gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene at 2:22 p.m. The second was transported to Lankenau Hospital and is listed in critical condition, according to police.
A firearm was recovered at the scene, and one individual has been taken into custody. Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity of the person detained or the victims involved.
The Homicide Unit is leading the investigation. Police said the scene remains secure, and detectives are continuing to gather evidence.
