RANDALLSTOWN, MD — A Baltimore County woman is now $1 million richer after purchasing a winning scratch-off ticket at a gas station in Annapolis, the Maryland Lottery announced.
The winner, who has chosen to remain anonymous, claimed the top prize on the Lucky 777 ticket at Lottery headquarters this week. She said the win holds personal significance, as playing lottery games has long been a tradition shared with her mother.
“I’ve been playing since I became old enough,” she said, recalling how her mother used to dream of hitting the jackpot one day. Over the years, they played everything from Mega Millions to scratch-offs together.
The winning ticket was bought at the Exxon station located at 2101 West Street while the woman was en route to a meeting. After purchasing several lower-priced tickets and winning her money back on a $20 MONOPOLY ticket, she decided to try her luck one more time with the $20 Lucky 777 ticket.

After her meeting, she used the Maryland Lottery app to scan the ticket’s barcode. “I saw the word ‘winner’ pop up but then I saw the amount. I just froze,” she said. She later shared the news with her partner and her mother, who was left speechless.
The winner plans to use the money to support her family, prepare for retirement, and pamper her two dogs, who she calls her “kids.”
The Exxon station that sold the winning ticket will receive a $1,000 bonus from the Maryland Lottery.
