Grocery store theft turns violent as suspects attack DC special police officer

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A confrontation over concealed merchandise escalated into violence Saturday morning when two individuals assaulted a Special Police Officer attempting to intervene at a grocery store in Southeast.

The incident unfolded around 9:26 a.m. on June 7 in the 400 block of 14th Street SE. The suspects were seen attempting to leave the store with unpaid goods when the officer, assigned to the location, confronted them. In response, the suspects physically attacked the officer before fleeing the scene.

Surveillance footage captured clear images of the suspects, who have not yet been identified. No arrests have been made.

The officer’s injuries have not been disclosed, and the case remains under investigation.
