PHILADELPHIA — A 23-year-old man was shot in the hand late Saturday night but initially refused to open the door for responding officers, according to Philadelphia Police.

At approximately 11:19 p.m. on June 14, officers from the 24th District were dispatched to a residence on the 3400 block of Braddock Street following a report of a “person with a gun, male shot.”

When officers arrived at the scene, they attempted to make contact with the victim inside the home. Police said the man initially refused to answer the door but eventually engaged with officers. Upon making contact, officers observed that the victim had sustained a gunshot wound to his left hand.

The victim was uncooperative with investigators and did not provide any details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. He was transported to Temple University Hospital by medics for medical treatment.

The motive and circumstances remain unknown, and no suspects have been identified at this time.

Investigation ongoing as police seek additional information

The Shooting Investigation Group (SIG) has taken over the case and is working to determine how the shooting occurred. Authorities have not located a crime scene or identified any witnesses.

Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage from the surrounding area and continuing to search for any leads that may clarify the events leading to the shooting.

Police have not released the victim’s identity, and no arrests have been made. The investigation remains active.
