BRONX, N.Y. — A 38-year-old man was shot and killed Tuesday morning in the South Bronx, according to the New York City Police Department.
Officers from the 40th Precinct responded to a 911 call of a person shot at approximately 7:46 a.m. near the intersection of Trinity Avenue and East 149th Street. Upon arrival, police found the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest.
Emergency Medical Services transported the man to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was pronounced dead. He was later identified as Victor Bautista, 38, of 611 East 149th Street in the Bronx.
No arrests have been made at this time, and police said the investigation remains active. Detectives are working to determine the circumstances that led to the shooting.
The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to confirm the official cause of death.
