Off-duty NYPD traffic agent arrested in Brooklyn for assault and harassment

BROOKLYN, N.Y. — An off-duty NYPD Traffic Enforcement Agent was arrested Tuesday evening in Brooklyn and is facing charges of assault and harassment, police said.

Syed Rasool, a 31-year-old male, was taken into custody at approximately 6:25 p.m. in the confines of the 70th Precinct. He is charged with assault in the third degree and harassment in the second degree.

The NYPD has not released details about the incident that led to Rasool’s arrest. It is unclear whether the alleged assault involved a civilian or occurred in a domestic context.

Rasool was off duty at the time of the incident. There has been no comment from the NYPD regarding his current duty status or any administrative action following the arrest.
