NJ Transit Train Catches Fire Forcing Commuters to Seek Alternative Transportation on Wednesday Commute

An NJ Transit engine fire near Spring Lake disrupted Wednesday evening commutes but resulted in no injuries.

SPRING LAKE, N.J. — A small fire in the engine compartment of a southbound NJ Transit train caused delays Wednesday night on the North Jersey Coast Line, according to transit officials.

The incident occurred around 7 p.m. at the Spring Lake station. Train 3363 had departed Penn Station in Manhattan at 5:01 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Bay Head at 7:07 p.m.

NJ Transit reported that no injuries occurred among the 55 passengers and crew on board. The fire was quickly contained, and local fire departments responded to the scene.

Passengers forced to seek alternate transportation

Following the disruption, affected passengers arranged for alternate transportation from Spring Lake. NJ Transit did not specify the duration of delays or when full service resumed.
