$50K Powerball ticket sold at Hempstead gas station in latest drawing

Hempstead, NY – A Powerball player in Hempstead just landed a $50,000 payday after purchasing a third-prize-winning ticket for the Saturday, December 29 drawing, according to the New York Lottery.

The lucky ticket was sold at Petro, located at 665 Peninsula Blvd, and matched four of the five white balls plus the red Powerball—earning the third-tier prize of $50,000.

Powerball drawings are held three times a week—Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m.—with winning numbers drawn from two fields: five white balls from 1 to 69, and a single red Powerball from 1 to 26.

The $50,000 win adds to the long list of Powerball payouts across the state. As of the latest fiscal year, the New York Lottery has contributed $3.6 billion to fund public schools, making it the most profitable lottery operation in North America.
