Armed duo robs victim in late-night stickup on Anacostia Road

WASHINGTON, DC — Two armed men wearing ski masks robbed a person at gunpoint just before midnight Tuesday in Southeast DC, prompting a neighborhood-wide police search and an urgent public safety alert.

The robbery occurred in the 300 block of Anacostia Road SE around 11:46 p.m., where Metropolitan Police say two Black males approached the victim, both displaying firearms. The first suspect was described as having a dark complexion, dreadlocks, and wearing all black with a black ski mask. The second suspect was of light complexion, wearing a black jacket and also covered with a ski mask.

The suspects fled the scene heading southbound on 37th Street SE toward Ely Place, according to the alert issued by police from the 6th District, which covers PSAs 601 to 608.

No injuries were reported, and investigators have not released information on whether any property was taken. Police have not indicated if the robbery appears targeted or random, and no arrests had been made as of Wednesday morning.
