Gunman opens fire inside Bronx building, injuring man in New Year’s Day shooting

BRONX, N.Y. – A 24-year-old man was shot multiple times during a dispute inside a Bronx building on New Year’s Day, and police are searching for three suspects who fled the scene, authorities said.

The shooting occurred around 6:27 p.m. Thursday inside 693 East 236th Street. According to police, the victim was approached by three unidentified men when a verbal dispute broke out. One of the suspects pulled out a black firearm and fired several shots, striking the victim in the left thigh and abdomen.

Emergency personnel transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was listed in stable condition.

Investigators said two of the suspects fled eastbound on East 236th Street in a white four-door sedan with dark tinted windows, while the third suspect fled on foot westbound on East 236th Street.

The gunman is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 20 to 30 years old, last seen wearing a black jacket with “Amiri” written in white on the back, a black sweatshirt, black pants, and dark-colored shoes.

The second suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion, also between 20 and 30 years old, last seen wearing a teal-colored jacket, light-colored sweatsuit, dark sneakers, and a surgical mask.

The third suspect, who fled on foot, is described as a male with a dark complexion, approximately 20 to 30 years old, last seen wearing a black knit cap, an orange jacket with black writing on the back, a red sweatshirt, dark pants, and white sneakers.
