Burlington city man sentenced to 8 years for sexual assault of young girl

A Burlington City man convicted of sexually assaulting a young girl will serve eight years in state prison and must register as a sex offender for life, authorities said.

A Burlington County judge has sentenced a Burlington City man to eight years in New Jersey State Prison following his conviction for sexually assaulting a young girl.

Isaiah Flores, 26, was sentenced May 8 by Superior Court Judge Gerard H. Breland in Mount Holly, according to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw.

Jury reached verdict after brief deliberations

Flores was convicted in January of second-degree sexual assault and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child following a three-day trial.

Jurors deliberated for approximately one hour before returning guilty verdicts on both charges.

“Flores was convicted in January of Sexual Assault (Second Degree) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Second Degree),” the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office said.

Prison sentence includes parole restrictions

Under New Jersey law, Flores must serve 85 percent of his sentence before becoming eligible for parole.

Judge Breland also ordered Flores to register under New Jersey’s sex offender registry requirements and placed him under parole supervision for life upon his eventual release from prison.

“The judge ordered that Flores be placed on the New Jersey sex offender registry and be subjected to parole supervision for life upon release from incarceration,” prosecutors said.

Victim’s identity protected

Authorities said the investigation began after a relative of the victim contacted law enforcement.

Additional details surrounding the assault have not been released in order to protect the identity and privacy of the victim.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Keith Carmy, supervisor of the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit.
