Baltimore murder suspect captured months after deadly Callender Street shooting

BALTIMORE, MD – A months-long homicide investigation in South Baltimore led to the arrest of a 23-year-old man accused of fatally shooting another man last fall. Police say Darrien Robinson Jr. was taken into custody early Tuesday morning, ending a search that stretched across several districts.

According to the Baltimore Police Department, members of the Warrant Task Force located and arrested Robinson around 6:45 a.m. in the 300 block of Greenmount Avenue. The arrest comes in connection with the October 15 shooting death of Darrius Hines, who was gunned down in the 500 block of Callender Street.

Investigators say officers responding to that scene found Hines suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body. Medics pronounced him dead at the scene. Detectives quickly launched a homicide investigation but had not publicly named a suspect until now.

Robinson was transported to the Homicide Section for questioning before being taken to Central Booking. He now faces charges of first- and second-degree murder in connection with the deadly shooting.
