Bowie store sells twin $50K lottery winners in one transaction

Two Bonus Match 5 tickets purchased consecutively at the same store matched all five winning numbers for twin $50,000 prizes

BOWIE, Md. — Two lucky lottery players — or possibly one very lucky player — are holding winning tickets worth a combined $100,000 after back-to-back Bonus Match 5 tickets sold in Bowie matched all five numbers drawn Thursday night.

The Maryland Lottery announced that two top-prize-winning tickets were sold consecutively at T&T Liquors, located at 13801 Annapolis Road in Bowie.

Each ticket won the game’s $50,000 top prize, creating a total payout of $100,000.

The winning numbers for the June 11 Bonus Match 5 drawing were 25, 27, 37, 38 and 39. The Bonus Ball was 12.

Lottery officials did not immediately indicate whether the tickets were purchased by the same player or by different customers.

The unusual sale resulted in a significant bonus for the retailer. T&T Liquors will receive a 1% selling bonus totaling $1,000 for selling the two winning tickets.

Bonus Match 5 drawings are held nightly in Maryland. Players select five numbers from one to 39, and matching all five winning numbers earns the game’s top prize of $50,000.

Additional prizes ranging from $2 to $600 are available for other winning combinations involving the Bonus Ball and matching numbers.

Winners of prizes exceeding $25,000 must claim their winnings through Maryland Lottery headquarters.
