BRONX, NY – A violent robbery rocked a Bronx store Tuesday afternoon when an unidentified woman assaulted a 68-year-old shopper after being confronted for shoplifting, before fleeing the scene on foot.

The attack happened just before 2 p.m. inside a business located at 986 Southern Boulevard, within the 41st Precinct, when the suspect began stuffing merchandise into her jacket and pants pockets. When the elderly woman stepped in and asked the individual to return the stolen items, she was punched in the face and had her hair pulled by the suspect.

After the assault, the suspect fled southbound on Southern Boulevard. The condition of the victim has not been released, and it is not known whether she required medical treatment.

The NYPD released the incident report on Wednesday, along with a call for public assistance in identifying the suspect. Surveillance footage or photos have not yet been made public.

The suspect remains at large as detectives continue the investigation. No arrests have been made.
