Two arrested after troopers find loaded concealed firearms near Claymont station
Claymont, DE – A shots fired call near a busy transit hub Tuesday evening led to the arrest of two Pennsylvania residents after Delaware State Police recovered loaded firearms during a vehicle stop.
Troopers responded around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday to the Claymont Transit Center on Transit Center Drive following reports of gunfire in the area. As officers arrived, they stopped a Kia Soul leaving a service road near nearby train tracks, where the investigation quickly focused.
Police identified the occupants as Robert Morrison, 58, and Cori Morrison, 35, both of Marcus Hook, Pennsylvania. According to investigators, the pair told troopers they had been target shooting near the Delaware River.
A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of two loaded handguns, both concealed, along with ammunition. Authorities said further investigation revealed Robert Morrison has a prior felony conviction, making him legally prohibited from possessing firearms.
