New Castle street crime leaves man hospitalized after assault

New Castle, DE — A man walking along a New Castle roadway early Wednesday was attacked and robbed by two masked suspects who struck him with a handgun before fleeing in a waiting vehicle.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the 3000 block of New Castle Avenue, according to Delaware State Police.

Investigators said a 37-year-old man was approached by a gray SUV, from which two male suspects exited wearing masks and dark clothing. During the encounter, the suspects struck the victim with a handgun and took his personal property.

The suspects then fled the area in the SUV. No further description of the vehicle or suspects has been released.
