Hyattsville scratch-off player lands $50K prize as game nears final jackpot
Hyattsville, MD — A quick stop for coffee turned into a $50,000 payday after a Prince George’s County woman scratched her way to one of the final top prizes in a popular lottery game.
The winner purchased three JURASSIC PARK scratch-off tickets at the 7-Eleven on East-West Highway in Hyattsville and discovered the winning ticket after scanning them at home. The final ticket revealed the $50,000 prize.
She returned to the store to confirm the result before claiming the prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on April 27.
The $5 game, which launched in September, originally featured six top prizes. With this claim, only one $50,000 top prize remains.
The winner said she plans to deposit the money in the bank, with possible plans to make improvements to her vehicle.
The 7-Eleven where the ticket was sold will receive a $500 bonus.
