Milford man held without bail after victim dies from assault injuries
Milford, MA – A confrontation at a local housing complex has led to serious criminal charges after a 54-year-old man died from injuries authorities say were inflicted during an earlier altercation.
John J. Bonnell, 60, of Milford, was arraigned Monday in Milford District Court on charges of assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and assault with intent to murder, according to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors said Bonnell is accused in connection with an incident involving Michael Albro, 54, who suffered serious injuries and was transported to UMass Memorial Hospital. Albro later died from those injuries.
Bonnell was ordered held without bail pending a dangerousness hearing scheduled for May 11.
The incident dates back to Friday when Milford police responded to a call for emergency services at a local housing authority property following a reported altercation between the two men.
The investigation remains active and is being conducted by the Milford Police Department along with Massachusetts State Police detectives assigned to the Worcester County District Attorney’s Office.
All charges are accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
