JACKSON TOWNSHIP, NJ – Jackson Towship officials unveiled the new Rova Park, which will replace the soon-to-be demolished Rova Farms community center and remaining dilapidated out buildings on the property. The township purchased the property earlier this year and this summer began clearing debris and overgrowth, but never released their vision of the project until now
Located in Historic Cassville, a national historic preservation site, the 34 acre parcel will be turned into an active and passive recreation area that includes an amphitheater pavilion for outdoor concerts, restrooms, a playground and fenced garden with trails and beautiful landscaping.
A large asphalt parking lot will be built at the head of the property just off Cassville Road. The Lakeside park will also include a concrete kayak launch, a fishing dock, and several scenic overlooks. A winding path will stretch along the waterfront, lined with park benches and a 20×40-foot pavilion along the shoreline.
“This is an example of moving Jackson forward,” Jackson Mayor Michael Reina said. “The township purchased the land from the owner, and instead of housing development, we’re going to have this beautiful park for everyone in town to enjoy for fishing, boating, relaxation, and more.”
Reina noted that the site has sat vacant for decades, and when the property became available to purchase, the town township moved on the opportunity to preserve the historic site permanently.
