FREDERICK, Md. — The Frederick Police Department announced the arrest of Kenneth Wims, the primary suspect in a series of vehicle tampering and theft incidents that have occurred in the area.
Patrol Squad A identified and apprehended Wims during their investigation into thefts from vehicles, which had contributed to an increase in calls for service. The arrest followed a report of trespassing and panhandling while officers were on duty.
According to police, Sgt. Murphy, A/Cpl. Constantine, and Officer Brouse were already investigating Wims’ alleged involvement in the thefts when Officer Solano and the team responded to the call. Wims was subsequently arrested and charged with trespassing, disorderly conduct, and possession of controlled substances and paraphernalia.
Following further investigation, Officer Brouse filed 25 additional charges against Wims related to the ongoing theft scheme.
Wims is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center as the investigation continues.
