Furious driver pulls gun on DC worker after parking ticket

Driver chases city worker with gun over parking ticket

WASHINGTON, D.C. — An angry driver pulled a gun on a city worker and chased him down the street after getting a parking ticket, according to police.

The incident unfolded around 1:27 p.m. on March 10 in the 700 block of 8th Street Southeast, where a Department of Public Works employee was on duty.

Police said the suspect approached the worker, upset that his vehicle had been ticketed, and tried to start a fight.

Authorities said the situation quickly escalated when the man went to his vehicle, grabbed a firearm and began following the worker, making threats and attempting to block his path.

The suspect fled before officers arrived.

The next day, U.S. Park Police located and arrested the suspect after a lookout was issued by Metropolitan Police detectives.

He was identified as David Joshua Willoughby, 36, of Capitol Heights, Maryland.

Willoughby was charged with felony threats while armed involving a gun.

The Metropolitan Police Department said the U.S. Marshals Service also assisted in the case.
