One pedestrian dead, another injured after vehicle strikes two in Harrison park

HARRISON, NJ — A 58-year-old man has died one week after he and another pedestrian were struck by a vehicle in West Hudson Park, authorities confirmed Thursday.

Hudson County Prosecutor Wayne Mello announced that Gary Gross, of Kearny, was pronounced dead on January 15 as a result of injuries he sustained during the January 8 crash. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Woodland Drive inside the park.

Officers from the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, where they found two male victims with serious injuries. Both were transported to University Hospital in Newark for treatment. The second victim, a 48-year-old man, also from Kearny, remains hospitalized in stable condition.

According to officials, the driver of the vehicle involved remained at the scene. No charges have been announced at this time.

The crash remains under active investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the Hudson County Sheriff’s Office.
