Hit and run leaves federal agent injured in Maryland

Salisbury, MD – A quiet early morning intersection turned into the scene of a hit-and-run investigation after a passing vehicle struck a federal agent who was helping manage traffic during an incident in Salisbury.

The crash occurred Tuesday at approximately 6:48 a.m. at the intersection of Pemberton Drive and Diamondback Drive. Deputies responded to reports that a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent had been struck by a vehicle that then fled the area without stopping.

Investigators said the agent was assisting with traffic direction for public safety when the incident occurred. All agents on scene were wearing clothing or equipment clearly identifying them as law enforcement. Authorities emphasized there is no evidence indicating the agent was targeted because of their employment.

The injured agent was transported to a local hospital, treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and later released.

A suspect has been identified, but the individual’s identity is being withheld as the investigation continues. Officials said there is no known threat to the public or to other ICE agents related to this incident.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Oakley of the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division at 410-548-4891. Charges remain pending.
