Late-night crash turns fatal on Hooper Avenue in Toms River

Deadly crash in Toms River leaves two women dead and child hospitalized

Toms River, NJ – A violent collision on Hooper Avenue near Fischer Boulevard left two women dead and a child injured Thursday night after an SUV crossed the median and slammed into another vehicle, according to investigators.

The crash occurred around 8:45 p.m. when a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 46-year-old man, veered southbound across the grass median and struck a 2025 Toyota RAV4 operated by a 28-year-old woman. The impact caused the Toyota to flip onto its passenger side and come to rest in a wooded area along the east side of the roadway.

The Toyota’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The front-seat passenger in the Chevrolet was taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River, where she later died. The driver of the Chevrolet and a four-year-old child riding in the back seat were transported to Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, where both remain in stable condition.

The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit–Vehicular Homicide Squad, along with the Toms River Township Police Department, continue to investigate the fatal crash.
