Lucky stop at local Pennsylvania shop results in lifetime lottery payout

Lucky ticket sold in Allegheny County lands $10,000 a month for life prize

MIDDLETOWN, PA – A routine stop at a Swissvale convenience store has turned into a long-term payout after a Pennsylvania Lottery Scratch-Off ticket worth $10,000 a month for life was sold in Allegheny County.

Lottery officials confirmed the winning ticket was purchased at Come-n-Go, located at 2003 South Braddock Avenue in Swissvale Borough. The retailer will receive a $10,000 bonus for selling the prize-winning ticket.

The $10,000 a Month for Life Scratch-Off is a $5 game that offers winners either monthly payments for life or a one-time cash option of $1.6 million, before applicable withholding.

Officials said Scratch-Off tickets are distributed randomly, meaning neither the Pennsylvania Lottery nor retailers know where top prizes will be sold until they are claimed.

Winners are advised to sign the back of their ticket immediately and contact the Pennsylvania Lottery to begin the claims process. Prizes exceeding $5,000 are subject to tax withholding.

Scratch-Off prizes must be claimed within one year of the game’s end-sale date, which is listed on the Pennsylvania Lottery website.

The identity of the winner has not been released.
