Maryland dad strikes again with second $50K win in just weeks
Gaithersburg, MD – A Montgomery County father walked into lottery headquarters for the second time in just over two weeks, this time claiming another $50,000 prize after repeating a win that had already turned heads.
The Gaithersburg resident, identified only as Carlos, claimed his latest $50,000 prize on Monday after playing the $50,000 Cash scratch-off game, according to Maryland Lottery officials.
His return comes shortly after a previous $50,000 win on April 20 from a different $20 scratch-off game, Lucky 777.
Carlos, who works as a delivery driver, purchased his latest winning ticket at Lakeside Beer Wine on Lost Knife Road in Gaithersburg. His earlier winning ticket was bought at a Shell station on Quince Orchard Road.
Lottery officials said both retailers will receive $500 bonuses for selling the winning tickets.
The winner said he noticed an “autowin” symbol on the ticket, confirming the $50,000 prize. He returned to lottery headquarters wearing a T-shirt he received during his previous claim.
Officials noted that the $50,000 Cash scratch-off game launched in December 2022 and has awarded multiple top prizes. Carlos is among more than 100 players to claim a top-tier prize in the game, with dozens still remaining.
He indicated plans to use his winnings for financial investments.
