Mystery thief targets trailer left on Sunflower Lane

A trailer owner returned to find a license plate missing after leaving the vehicle parked for several days, deputies said.

STAFFORD, Va. — The Stafford County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a trailer’s license plate was reported stolen from a parked vehicle.

Deputy L. J. Gutshall responded to the report at approximately 11:20 a.m. on July 7 in the Sunflower Lane area.

According to the sheriff’s office, the victim told deputies they had parked a truck and trailer on Sunflower Lane several days earlier.

When the owner returned, the trailer’s license plate had been removed and stolen.

No suspects have been identified, and the investigation remains ongoing.
