Nancy Pelosi’s Husband Investigated for Hit and Run Crash in California Wine Country

Authorities are investigating whether misdemeanor charges are warranted after Paul Pelosi allegedly struck a parked vehicle and drove away in Napa County.

Yountville, CA – Paul Pelosi, 86, is under investigation following a reported hit-and-run crash in Yountville after authorities said he struck a legally parked vehicle and continued driving before stopping.

According to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred on July 3 in California’s Napa Valley wine country. Witnesses reported seeing Pelosi’s brown convertible collide with an unoccupied parked vehicle, causing significant rear-end damage before leaving the scene.

Investigation forwarded to district attorney

Deputies later located Pelosi’s damaged vehicle. According to investigators, Pelosi told deputies he knew he had hit something but said he was unaware of what he had struck or precisely when the impact occurred.

Authorities administered breathalyzer tests, which confirmed there was no alcohol in his system. Because the alleged offense is being investigated as a misdemeanor, deputies did not make an arrest at the scene. The case has since been forwarded to the Napa County District Attorney’s Office for a charging decision.

DMV asked to review driving fitness

The Napa County Sheriff’s Office also requested that the California Department of Motor Vehicles evaluate Pelosi’s ability to continue driving, describing the referral as a standard procedure for older drivers involved in traffic collisions.

A spokesperson for the Pelosi family said Paul Pelosi has apologized to the owner of the damaged vehicle and agreed to pay for the repairs.

“Mr. Paul Pelosi has personally apologized to the owner of the vehicle and assured them that he would take responsibility for the damage to their vehicle,” a spokesperson for the Pelosis said in a statement to The California Post.

The spokesperson added, “Speaker Pelosi will not be commenting further on this private matter.”

The Napa County District Attorney’s Office has not announced whether charges will be filed.
