Newark, NJ – A young, energetic dog surrendered after only a few months with his previous family is now up for adoption in Newark, where shelter staff say he is eager to find a permanent home.
Benji, a one-year-old dog weighing approximately 95 pounds, is currently being cared for by the Associated Humane Societies in Newark. Despite his large size, staff describe him as playful, social, and well-suited for a family environment.
According to the shelter, Benji previously lived with other animals and children and adjusted well in that setting.

In a statement, the Associated Humane Societies said, “At just 1 year old, Benji is barely out of puppyhood — a big, playful bundle of energy at 95lbs!” The shelter added, “He got along wonderfully with dogs, cats, and kids alike.”
