Police investigate after man found dead on Irving Street

A 55-year-old man was discovered unresponsive on a Northeast Washington street early Saturday, prompting a homicide investigation.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A homicide investigation is underway after a 55-year-old man was found dead early Saturday in Northeast Washington, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Fifth District officers responded at approximately 5:54 a.m. on July 4 to the 1800 block of Irving Street, Northeast, after receiving a report of an unconscious person.

When officers arrived, they found an adult man unconscious and not breathing.

DC Fire and EMS responded and pronounced the man dead at the scene after finding no signs of life.

The victim was identified as 55-year-old Adeyinka Aderemi, of Northeast Washington.

Police said the victim was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy as detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.

No arrests have been announced.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Metropolitan Police Department at (202) 727-9099 or text tips to 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.
