Retired housekeeper hits big on $3 scratch off

Baltimore errand run erupts into $30000 scratch off payday for stunned player

BALTIMORE, MD — A routine Saturday filled with shopping stops ended with a $30,000 lottery prize after a Baltimore woman scratched her final Bonus Crossword ticket at home and uncovered a top win.

The player, identified by the nickname I’m Blessed, purchased four $3 7th Edition Bonus Crossword scratch-offs at the Fast Stop Shop, 1023 East Lombard Street, during an errand run. She said she prefers bingo and crossword-style games because of their extended play format and waited until she returned home to begin scratching the tickets.

On the final ticket, she began revealing winning words in stages.

She first uncovered four words, then five, and eventually ten, which secured the $30,000 top prize.

To verify the result, she returned to the retailer to scan the ticket. The scanner confirmed the $30,000 win.

The winner later claimed the prize Wednesday at Maryland Lottery headquarters. She said she plans to use the money to pay bills, donate to charity and share with her children. Any remaining funds will be saved.

The Fast Stop Shop will receive a $300 bonus for selling the top-prize ticket.

The 7th Edition Bonus Crossword scratch-off launched in February and still has three $30,000 top prizes remaining, along with eight $5,000 prizes and additional awards ranging from $3 to $1,000.

For one Baltimore player, the last ticket in a stack turned an ordinary errand day into a $30,000 payout.
