Shelter’s plea for Daisy goes viral as lovable dog waits more than a year for a home

After watching countless dogs come and go, Daisy is still waiting. Now, the volunteers are making an emotional plea to find the longtime shelter resident a foster or adoptive home.

JACKSON TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Volunteers with the Friends of Northern Ocean County Animal Facility are urgently seeking a foster or foster-to-adopt home for Daisy, a dog who has spent more than a year waiting for a family.

In a social media post, the rescue group said Daisy continues to be overlooked as more dogs enter the shelter and an increasing number are designated as “rescue only” because of medical or behavioral needs.

Despite her lengthy stay, volunteers described Daisy as affectionate and eager for attention.

According to the group, Daisy greets staff with a wagging tail and excitement each time she heads outside for walks and exercise.

Volunteers said Daisy would do best as the only dog in the home or in a household where she can be kept separate from other dogs. They also recommend an adult-only home or one with older, calm children.

The organization said Twenty Paws Rescue has agreed to assist if a suitable foster or foster-to-adopt home is found.

Anyone interested in fostering or fostering with the intent to adopt Daisy is asked to contact the rescue organization through the information provided in its post.
