The individual, identified as 23-year-old Joshua Lopez from Utica, fled on foot with a bag. During the chase, Lopez discarded the bag but was eventually captured behind a residence on the same block.

A loaded 9mm handgun was discovered in the abandoned bag. The Utica Police Department arrived subsequently and took Lopez into custody.
