Teen curfew tightened in busy Myrtle Beach downtown zone

Myrtle Beach enforces 9 p.m. curfew for minors in downtown zone

Myrtle Beach, SC — A reminder from local police is drawing attention to strict curfew rules for minors in the city’s downtown corridor, where unaccompanied individuals under 18 must leave designated areas by early evening hours.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department announced that juveniles ages 17 and under are required to be out of the downtown Ocean Boulevard zone and all city-owned properties by 9:00 p.m. unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The curfew zone spans from the ocean to Kings Highway and from 6th Avenue South to 21st Avenue North. It also includes Broadway Street between 7th Avenue North and 9th Avenue North.

Officials noted there are limited exceptions to the curfew, including for work, emergencies, and other approved circumstances.

Outside of the designated downtown area, a broader citywide juvenile curfew remains in effect from midnight to 6:00 a.m.

Police stated the curfew is part of ongoing efforts to maintain public safety within the city’s busiest areas.
