TOMS RIVER, NJ – While the Shore is locked in one of its longest cold streaks in years, Toms River officials are already thinking ahead to sunshine, surf, and summer jobs. The Toms River Recreation Department has officially opened applications for its 2026 seasonal positions, offering opportunities across beaches, pools, camps, and the township golf course.
Positions include camp counselors, a Camp Discovery director, lifeguards, badge checkers, pool and beach maintenance staff, beach security, and various roles at Bey Lea Golf Course. Applicants must apply online through the township’s Human Resources portal, where all current job listings are posted.
The summer hiring effort supports several of Toms River’s most popular seasonal programs, including the township’s Day Camp, Camp Discovery, the beaches at Shelter Cove and Ortley Beach, and the Snug Harbor community pool. The township says it’s looking for energetic, reliable candidates ready to provide a safe and fun environment for residents and visitors.

Township officials encourage early applications, noting that many positions—especially lifeguard and camp counselor roles—fill quickly each year. Pay rates and job requirements vary by position, and applicants can find details through the employment link provided by the township.
