Two gang members sentenced to decades in prison for murder of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson

WASHINGTON — Two members of the Wellington Park gang were sentenced Friday for the 2018 shooting death of 10-year-old Makiyah Wilson, who was killed by stray gunfire while sitting outside her home in Northeast D.C.

Mark Price, 30, was sentenced to 50 years in prison. Antonio Murchison, 31, received a 72-year sentence following their September convictions for first-degree murder while armed and multiple related charges.

Both men were also convicted of conspiracy to commit a crime of violence, participation in a criminal street gang, obstruction of justice, and several counts of assault with intent to kill while armed and firearms offenses.

According to prosecutors, on July 16, 2018, Price, Murchison, and three others drove to the Clay Terrace neighborhood and opened fire into a courtyard, discharging more than 50 rounds. Price was the driver and briefly stopped to let the shooters out of the vehicle.

Makiyah Wilson was struck and killed while sitting on the stoop of her home. Several other individuals were wounded in the shooting.

In connection with the case, Quanisha Ramsuer, 31, was also found guilty of obstruction of justice.

The investigation was led by the Metropolitan Police Department, and the case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Laura Bach and Natalie Hynum.
