PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — An 11-month-old boy is in extremely critical condition after falling from a second-story window Thursday afternoon in the city’s 18th District, according to police.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:38 p.m. at a residence on the 5800 block of Pine Street. Officers arrived on scene and quickly transported the infant to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

Police confirmed the child was placed in extremely critical condition upon arrival. The exact circumstances leading up to the fall are currently under investigation.

The Philadelphia Police Department’s Special Victims Unit is handling the case. Authorities have not disclosed whether any adults were present at the time of the incident or if any charges are being considered.
