Three DC teens arrested in Metro station robbery after summer attack

Washington, DC – A June robbery outside a busy Metro station has led to the arrest of three 14-year-old boys, months after a confrontation over stolen headphones escalated into a violent struggle in Northeast DC.

The incident unfolded on Tuesday, June 17, at around 6:50 p.m. as a man exited the Brookland Metro Station in the 900 block of Bunker Hill Road NE. A suspect grabbed the man’s headphones and ran. The victim pursued the suspect, who handed the stolen item to another accomplice before fleeing.

Shortly afterward, someone who knew the victim spotted the group with the headphones and confronted them. A physical altercation followed, during which the suspects damaged the second victim’s property before fleeing the scene. The stolen headphones were recovered at the location.

Following an investigation, three juveniles—all 14-year-old males from Northwest DC—were arrested on Monday, September 15. The arrests were made under a D.C. Superior Court pre-petition custody order. All three face charges of Robbery (Force and Violence).
